I’m a Mechanical Engineer by training, with a Bachelor’s degree and a resume that includes stints in the military & defense industry, aerospace industry, and even water slide engineering industry (yes, that’s a thing!). But after years in the corporate world, I realized it wasn’t the right fit for me.
COVID brought a lot of changes, and I decided it was time for a big one. I quit my job, packed up my life (and my dog), and moved from Ontario to Nova Scotia, Canada. I picked up some engineering contracts to keep things going, but something else was brewing.
When Anna Lee from Canine Conditioning Coach mentioned that clients needed equipment designed for their program, it was like a light bulb went off. A problem to solve? I’m in! Wiggle Butts was born.
the dog who stole her heart
Meet Lotus, my sweet rescue from Barbados. Her journey to becoming a house dog started during COVID when I took her in as a foster. She’d been through a lot—a rough start on the streets, recovering from a litter and a spay, and a long-haul flight with 200+ other rescued animals. She was timid and unsure, but her calm, gentle nature quickly won me over. It wasn’t long before she was more than just a foster; she was family.
Lotus has come a long way since those early days. Over time, she's blossomed into a confident, happy dog. She's my inspiration, my workshop companion, and Wiggle Butts' #1 protytpe tester!
the business that was born
Wiggle Butts launched in early 2023, starting out in my basement with just plywood and a few rolls of skateboard grip tape. It’s been a whirlwind since then, but all of our products are still fabricated by hand in the basement of my home, with each piece being inspected for quality before leaving my workshop.
With my engineering know-how, I’ve optimized the manufacturing process of our products, innovated the design based on customer feedback, and built a brand that stands by its values. Wiggle Butts isn’t just about making products; it’s about building well-engineered solutions with a quality that lasts a lifetime.
